Description
This is a very large painting of an industrial scene in Pennsylvania, including the Monongahela River, the Edgar Thomson steelworks, the Pennsylvania Railroad main line and a magnificent steel girder bridge. Such was the powerhouse of the USA in those distant days before airplanes and consumer electronics conquered all. Polluted, indeed, but in an obvious way rather than the insidious pollution of the 21st century.
